The morning after the summit before: AI newsletter 6 November 2023

There is a general, if somewhat begrudging, acceptance that the UK’s AI Safety Summit came off with a measure of success – with China and the US speaking on the same panel, the foundation models promising to play nice, and Elon Musk’s Cybertruck triumphantly navigating the Milton Keynes roundabouts to bring some star power to proceedings. While not everyone was happy, the promise of summits in Korea and France next year suggests there will be plenty of opportunities to voice dissent.
