In a nutshell, I have the privilege of driving privacy requirements into the DNA of our large organisation (people, processes and policies) with a particular focus on our product, tool and system development. I am also in charge of representing Cisco to regulators, customers and external stakeholders
I particularly enjoy participating in all aspects of the business and having full visibility on them. I find it rewarding to build a project that directly impacts and suits the business needs of your company more seamlessly.
As data and the insights we learn from data are driving the next steps of innovation, data protection and privacy will become just as relevant. I believe roles like mine will be critical not only to be good data stewards, but also to help in the data curation and maximisation of the value that we drive out of the data to make smarter and groundbreaking business decisions.
Good data governance is key to any data-rich business. The data must be kept relevant to your outcome, which means getting rid of what you do not need, collecting only the data that is necessary to achieve your business goals, putting in place controls that allow the protection of the data, and minimising its exposure as well as its unintentional and intentional misuse.
