My team focuses primarily on protecting privacy in the context of Facebook’s partnerships with third-party companies and other organisations.
I worked for years with tech and media companies as outside counsel. I loved that work, but wanted to be closer to products and to better understand how businesses make decisions.
Many of the issues I work on are unprecedented. It’s not just that there’s no statute or case that’s on point, but because we’re building things the world has never seen, we have to think through policy issues that no one has ever thought through.
We need to help people understand how businesses can use data in ways that benefit them without compromising their privacy.
I need outside counsel that knows the tech industry – and our products – cold. Because I work on policy, I also need counsel that can think beyond the law and anticipate tomorrow’s issues.
I’m particularly proud of the team of stellar folks that I’ve built at Facebook. Many of them have only recently joined the company, but they’re already making a lot of impact.
